CAR PARKING UPDATE & NOTIFICATION
We are writing to notify you of some changes we will be making at Creech Wood car park.
Forestry England care for more land and trees than any other organisation in England. We provide hundreds of car parks – maintain thousands of miles of trails, footpaths and bridges, and offer a wide range of facilities for visitors. We also plant millions of trees, restore rare habitats, and carry out conservation work.
As an organisation, we generate most of the income required to pay for our work ourselves, with less than 20% of our funding coming from government. In recent years our costs have risen considerably as the prices of materials and services have increased. In order to maintain our current extensive network of places to visit we also ask for a contribution from those using them. This includes charging for car parking in a select number of car parks across the country. All the money raised goes directly back into caring for the nation’s forests.
We already charge at several sites in the South district and will be extending this to include a small number of additional locations including Creech Wood.
Parking charges will cost £1 for 2 hours, £2 for 4 hours, or £3 for all day parking. Forestry England members benefit from free parking for a whole year where car parking charges apply as well as a range of benefits.
The works to install pay and display machines and associated infrastructure will be carried out under as development under Part 19 Class A of the Town and Country Planning (General Permitted Development Order) 2015, referred to as General Development by the Crown. The relevant planning authorities have been notified.
Work on site will be limited and will take no more than a few days to complete. We hope to avoid car park closures during this time. If closures are necessary, we will endeavour to keep these to a minimum and provide notice on site and on our website.
This letter is intended to inform you of our plans out of courtesy and give you the opportunity to contact us to discuss any concerns you may have.
