Denmead's Trees

Denmead's Trees

Denmead's Trees and How We Care For Them

We care for Denmead's trees in the following ways:

1. Tree Preservation Orders (TPOs)
  • Protect ancient trees
  • Preserve important trees
  • Illegal to remove
  • Climate crisis
2. Tree Removal
  • We may cut down trees for insurance reasons, subsidence, and health and safety
3. Promoting Wildlife and Wildflowers
  • Allowing wildflowers, nature, and animals to thrive by providing and protecting wildlife corridors and introducing wildflower areas
4. We Don't Cut Trees or Hedges from February to July
  • We do not cut trees or hedges during this time due to nesting birds.  If any type of bird is nesting in a tree or hedge, it is legally protected so long as the nest is in use.  This prohibits certain types of tree pruning or removal until the nesting season is over
5. It's Not Always Our Tree
  • Trees are not always the responsibility of Denmead Parish Council.  Other organisations who may be responsible for trees within Denmead include:
    • Hampshire County Council
    • Winchester City Council
    • National Highways
    • Home/Land Owners
